i picked up some beansprouts today for the boys as they havnt tried this yet and thought it would make a nice change. however, when i got home i realised it said in big capital letters- do not eat raw. does this go for the piggies as well? i didnt think i could give them cooked veg! sorry if thats a dumb statement!
please let me know if they are ok to give raw or need to be cooked so i can give them some!

Not sure if beansprouts are ok full stop. I;ve never heard of them fed. Some things are poisonous so best not feed them until you are sure. Will have a look for you now.

Normally you would never feed a veg you are not sure about Cute Cavy but in this case, the rescue where ryo-the-rat got their piggys says they are ok on heir website, and I know Cheryl who runs the rescue and she wouldn;t put something poisonous on there.

What type of beansprouts do you have? I personally wouldn't give my piggies beansprouts because if you look at the ratio of Calcim : Phosphorous in these types of food, Phosphorous is much higher than Calcium. This is the wrong way around for guineas - the Calcium amount should be higher than the Phosphorous, otherwise your guinea may end up with phosphate stones and bone demineralisation. Guinea Lynx have lots of useful information about food values on their website: www.guinealynx.com/charts.htmlHope this helps. Chrissie
