I live in an apartment and I don't want to take my piggies outside on the common area yard because I'm not sure where the grass is clean. I don't know who's spilled what or what animal's done it's business where so I won't take any chances.
I'd really like to give my pigs some fresh grass, though. The few times I have given it, they loved it! I was thinking about growing some grass either indoors or out on my balcony. I want to be sure I'm growing the right type, though.
Are there any kinds of grass I should avoid because they aren't good for guinea pigs?

I'd like to know too, please! I live in a ground floor flat and have a bit of garden but it's all gravel so there's no grass for my boys Leroy and Malcolm By the way, they tried peas this weekend for the first time. I got a big bag reduced to 20p. They love them but don't eat the peas inside - just the shell! I go to them in the morning to find peas rolling all over the cage

Not sure on types of grass. I didn't know there was more than one. Growing it indoors sounds like a nice idea have you ever made those grass head things with cotton wool and tights with grass growing out the top for hair? You could decorate your pig room with them!
Have you ever tried spillers redigrass? This is dried grass but you can feed it all year round and the piggys LOVE it!

Ronnie and reggy tried grass for the 1st time last week and they went mad for it !!! Think I may have found the answer to my lazyness problem when it comes to mowing the lawn :-).
How much is safe to give them ? think they would have just kept eatting it if I had kept putting it in there bowl, TBH its the only food they will feed directly from me at the mo....
