I have just received a phone call from my local RSPCA who have asked us to help catch 40-50 yes you read right 40 -50 guinea pigs that have been romoured to be abandoned in a garden.
We will be going to help catch these piggies - some are heavily pregnant and I expect many more to bo too.
Are there any people out there willing to take in any piggies in need - we will take in as many as we can but at the moment are also full to bursting and will be well over our limits
If you can help please mail us Laine/Nick
guineasforlife@blueyonder.co.uk
Thanks for your help

Thanks Toria - I will be in touch soon and will keep you all updated on how many we manage to save. I should imagine we will be able to travel to Lancaster as we will be going to York next weekend so may tie it in with that journey.

I'm very sorry to say we can't help as now I'm so busy at work I couldn;t manage more piggys. Well done Toria for offering help, I really hope that people can help these animals.
Somehow I misread your message when I wroe this reply and didn't realise the animals were actually loose, hope they have been rounded up safely. Please update us when you go.

Laine,
I am so sorry that we can not help. We have just taken in 2 new boars and that means we are out of space. I will ask around and see if anyone else can help.
Love Marie x

would love to help out but am much too far away, just a thought tho, our RSPCA branch rarely/never get piggys in for rehoming( if they do they are gone like lightning) I do know our branch have taken lots of piggys from different areas to rehome here on the Isle of wight, the last lot came from Ireland I believe there was 100s so if you do get stuck give them a call, good luck

thank you all for your help and support I have just spoken to the RSPCA again now and they will be bringing a heavily pregnant sow to me tomorrow morning and we will hopefully be going to rescue the rest on Wednesday - apparently the council have something to do with letting us onto the property!!!!!
If any of you have any good ideas on how to catch them - they are roaming freely in what appears to be 4 gardens in one! I would be really gratefull of any hints and tips

Hi Lainey
I am soooo sorry for not being in touch. Have been working late every night in Dewsbury. Was really shocked to read what has happened. I can come with you next Wednesday if you like to try and catch these piggies - If I can catch Beryl I reckon I could get a few of these poor things! I'm not sure if we could possibly foster some on a short-term basis. Shall speak to James. Am really worried about the fact they are roaming free. Wouldn't be surprised if foxes/cats have attacked them by now. Doesn't bear thinking about. Shall speak to you on Sunday at the CCT lecture.

Hi, I'm in the North East of England, Tyne and Wear, if we can arrange some kind of transport "train" I will take a couple of pregnant sows or poorly pigs that need extra care. Barbara

We spoke with the RSPCA yesterday and they are going to try and save the cavies today, via humane traps that are used for mammals as many of them are pregnant and we don’t want to stress them out by chasing them. If this is unsuccessful then they are going to phone and ask for us to go and chase them. We don’t really want to chase them as you know they will just run anywhere with fear, the boxes are laid out with food in where they are roaming so this should be a nice way of saving/collecting them.
As soon as I have more information I will try my best to remember to let you know – my memory is terrible!
Thanks again everyone for your help and support - its nice to know that there are people who do really care about these piggy's
Laine/Nick
