just got back from the vets had to leave George as he has an abcess in his jaw which needs draining, the vet did say we could just try antibiotics but it may not sort the problem out and if George got weaker the op. would be more risky.... she will ring me at lunch time to tell me if he has come through it OK... keeping all fingers and toes crossed !!

Hey there Jude I am sorry I have missed this post, I sadly lost my lovely Prince to an abcess please see his page www.susieandpigs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/prince.htm so congratulations on spoting it early. The advice I was given was not to have him operated on but to get him to a Rodentologist who would lance and drain the abcess without the need for a big op. However if your piggy has already had the op I hope he is recovering well and that the lump was nothing any more sinister. Do ask for advice about feeding him if he is not eating. Good luck and do keep us posted.

Hey there Susie, still waiting for the path.result he just isn't his usual self, I think the lump has reduced slightly with antibiotics, he hasn't had any of his dry mix for a week now, I keep feeding him veggies and dandelions which he manages, and I'm giving him some critical care feed ( which he quite likes) just to make sure he is getting a little extra. He won't touch the pro -biotic stuff.... fussy little GP ! A VERY BIG THANK-YOU for your page on what to ask the vet, I downloaded the info and asked a zillion questions before I let her take my George for his op. she was a lovely vet and very knowledgeable about GP' s, she said George was a lovely pig.... well I just had to agree, it would have been rude not to !!
