sorry its been so long since ive been on here-i feel awful that this is the first post that im making after so long.
Budd is not well at all today. his eyes seem runny and crusty around them(im guessing where they have ran and dried up?) his nose seems runny and it appears as though he has been drooling as his chin is very wet. on top of this he isnt interested in his food! which is extremely unlike him.
this has only came on today-at feeding time last night he was his usual happy greedy self. the only thing i noticed yesterday were that his eyes looked a bit wet. but today when i fed him and Bill he just ignored the food-that was when i knew something was really up and took him out for a check over.
what on earth is wrong with him? from experience with the rats id say resp problems, but unfortunately i dont have any experience when it comes to piggies health! please do help!
oh, and if anyone can recommend a really good vet in the birmingham area id really appreciate it.

Hey there, please make no apologies, you are always welcome to post. However long its been. Lets just hope we can help.
O.k. It could be a cold with an eye infection but the combination of runny/ crusty eyes, runny nose and especially the wet chin make me suspect a possible teeth problem, in which case you need to see a rodentologist- not a vet- to get them checked without anethetic.
As I say my feeling here is it could be something simple, and it has just come on, but often with piggys we only get the slightest indication when there is something wrong, and I sadly learned this the hard way with Prince who's eye infection (which I treated myself) may have been a sign of the tooth problem that caused his sad death. If he were mine I would want to rule it out.
Ring Vedra on 07721 026401 and ask her where your nearest Rodentologist, or Cavy saavy vet is- these are good numbers to have on standby incase anyway. You could also ask her advice about the symptoms. Well done for spotting the symptoms straight away by the way. Good luck and do keep us posted.

Sounds like Bactrim or Baytril are needed pretty quickly. The URI sounds well underway. Good luck!
