Hello,
I'm Sara, I am hoping that someone might be able to point me in the right direction to find a friend for Rose. Pru (Age 5) died on Sunday afternoon & now rose is lonely my sister has posted on the adoption rehoming page but i thought id try here too in hope of catching someone who may be able to help me. I really want to find a partner for Rose & would love to find a neutered boy. I loved Pru to pieces & gave her the best i could, Rose is only 3 & i am really worried about her she was quite boystress before she lost Pru & now she is eating little but veg & sitting in her hut hiding, If anybody can help or has seen a friendly neutered boy please reply.

Hi Sara, Very sorry to hear about Pru, it's never easy when they go! Where are you based? lots of rescue centres neuter there males so finding a mate shouldn't be too hard. Also check out www.guineapigrehome.org.uk, there's always boys and girls on there....

PooksMaybe you should get her a girlie to save her being lonely and pining. ARC in Richmond has lots of neutered boys Animal Lifeline probably has neutered boys too. Good luck thinking of poor Rose..

Thank you for your replies, I have tried Guinea pig rehome, I sent an email as they are not open until tommorrow. They have 1 Neutered boy called Piggy! only a few hours away So i am hoping! & If he is still looking fior a home he is not too far away & me,Susie & rose will be going for a visit If she doesnt get on with him I will ask about a girl. Halifax RSPCA will be open tomorrow so i will try there too, Bradford replied they had two boys but neither were neutered & my sister kindly pointed out two boys & 1 Girl is a definate no go. I was definately considering another girl as Rose is my first prioraty but when Pru died Rose was really taken back & Unhappy & I could do nothing to cheer her up apart from giving her favourate vegs & more of them but thats nothing when you loose someone. My sister keeps boys & we live close by at least he could see other piggys until I could find him a friend, I love my Rose to pieces & hope she will be with me for many years yet she is only 3. I will post over the weekend to let you know when i find a friend. I am in west yorkshire & am not sure where Richmond is but it is definatly worth a try & animal lifeline too! My sister is going to come with me too so we'll be sure Rose finds the best friend possible :o) I showed Rose a pic of piggy when i was looking for friends but i dont think she understood though she just chewed on my jumper lol :o)

Be careful you will have to quarenteen any new piggy for at least 14 days! 21 in an Ideal world. b4 you introduce then to your girl!

Sara I know we have discussed this now. Obviously in an ideal situation you would keep the new piggy away from Rose for 2 weeks or so, but because she is depressed I think this is 'exceptional circumstances'. We will check the new piggy over and give him a bath though.

I am so sorry to hear about Pru, i remember her well, she was beautiful. Richmond is about an hour up the A1 from where SP was, my sister keeps a caravan there. It's just before you get to scotch corner, good luck with your search. Definately no need to quaranteen in this case, Rose's needs come first, just have a thorough check of the newbie . In ideal circunstances i would agree a 14 quaranteen is a very good idea love janet

Things are looking good. Our local RSPCA have lots of castrated boars so they are coming to visit Sara and Rose and see where a new boys would be living! Hopefully all will go well and Rose will be getting a boyf soon. Thanks all for your kind wishes and advice. It means allot to Sara and to me. Pru was certainly a special piggy and Rose has caused some worry as she has not bee herself. Sounds like she has perked up... she must know her new friend cannot be far away.
