I'd be interested to know the quantity of fruit and vegetables that your pigs eat. My 2 boys seem to eat everything so quickly and I'm wondering whether they are just greedy or aren't getting enough Last night they started running around squeaking because I was a bit late with their dinner (only had them 3 weeks and they think they own the place ;D) Between them they usually get 2 carrots, 2 big green leaves (last night was cabbage), 2 chunks of cucumber and one or two of the following: 2 slices of melon, 2 quarters of tomato, 2 sticks of celery, 2 slices of apple. They get this twice a day as well as a bowl of dried food (which they share very nicely together . Everything gets eaten - even the skin of the melon. Should they be getting more??

Wow! your boys get a lot!!
My typical day is like this
Brekkie: (each) half a big carrot or one whole little one, chopped celery, cabbage leaf, cauliflower leaf few runner beans chopped (if I have them) few small pieces kale.
Some corn cob leaves and hay as I go out the door.
Tea: (each) half a big carrot or one whole little one, half a baby corn, small pieces of apple and pear, brocoli, and one whole pea.
Then half way throught the evening after their nap they gather on their own little sofa for Parsley time which I hand feed them lots of ! Sometimes if their making a lot of noise or one is pestering the other I throw down a whole corncob and that keeps em quiet! Of course twice a week they get fresh grass and dandelions.
I only top up thier bowls once a day at bedtime when I give them more hay, timothy hay and redigrass.
Hope this helps! Do remember to chop up celery -'cause of the stringy bits and apples and pears 'cause of the mouth sores!

Pleased to hear of others spoiling their pigs I've never tried mine with parsley. Might go and get some on my way home. I like the idea of their own little sofa have you got a photo?

I had been wondering if I was overfeeding my piggie, Spice, but thanks, that has put my mind at rest. He will eat all the time, I do give him parsley(which he adores, lots of lovely Vit. C), he also has wild rocket, comfrey, groundsel, sow thistle, hazelnut twigs, apple twigs, plantain, coltsfoot and anything he likes and can find in the garden. I grow herbs of all sorts and he picks which ones he likes as he is given the run of the garden! He also adores red peppers and banana skins!

My boys are equally greedy. I have been told that you can't really over feed veg. Obviously if their droppings are loose you know you have gone overboard but feeding a nice variety is nice for them and good for them, as long as they get plenty of hay, water and just the right amount of mix they will be lovely rounded piggys I'm sure.... and very happy and healthy with it!

Just a thought - not to drastically increase the amount of veg all at once - slowly does it or piggy might get bloat!

Absolutely Toni... very good point. Thanks for making it. Its also important to introduce any new type of veg slowly too.

I tried Leroy and Malcom on sweetcorn last week. They loved it. They ate a whole one in a weekend. Thinking of getting an allotment next year to grow my own veg so I can keep up with them
