Hi We're so glad you have joined us here on the B4B forum. ;D This is YOUR foum. These guidelines are here to help... and we will add to them as time goes on. Please read them since in posting on this forum you are agreeing to abide be these rules.
This is an open board at present where anyone can post. We politely ask that you sign up as a member, you can choose whether to display an e-mail address or not when you sign up. Also please add info such as where you are based to help us to help you (e.g. no point in giving you UK product names if you are in the US etc) to your profile.
The forum is a place where we can share ideas and experiences with the hope of helping each other- we are not vets and we don't have your pig in front of us to make a proper diagnosis. Photographs and info help but its not the same. Each post made is only the opinion of the author of it. We all have differing opinions and experiences, and may also interpret what is said in different ways. Use smiles to help you convey tone. ;D and remeber the views of indiviual posters are not necissarily the view of Barmy4boars forum.
My views on piggy husbandary are docmented on my website www.barmy4boars.co.uk Though I am interested in alternate views on many things but not on shavings (they are a no no see www.susieandpigs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/bedfeed.htm) or on rabbits with guinea pigs (another serious danger- see www.susieandpigs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Rabbit.htm) so please do not begin discussions on these issues.
As a poster you have a responsibility to double check advice you give. If possible please post your source (e.g. a website, a book, an organisation). Remember if you are unsure it is far better to say so, that way people can check, than to post wrongful info. This could do more harm that good.
Please remember Guinea pigs are not dogs, cats, sheep, horses etc. This means what works for these animals may not work for pigs. So don't assume it will, or tell others it will if you don't know.
As a reader you have a responsibility to your pigs to check any advice you get before taking action. Anyone can reply... you don't know their experiance. If you are unsure you should contact the Cambridge Cavy trust (details on the B4B links page).
When you register please include your own name in your user name if possible so that other memebers know what to call you. For example instead of putting 'Barmy4Boars' put 'Susie (Barmy4Boars)' and if you wanted to put piggy crazy as your user name then I'd prefer you put Jim (Piggy crazy) or Piggy_Crazy_Jim as your user name. You can change your display name after you have signed up by viewing your profile. And clicking 'Modify Profile'. If not please include your name in your signiture which can be set in the same way.
We are pro-rescue and responsible breeding. Everyone is welcome to post... but if you are an ammature breeder unless you are asking for medical advice, please restrict your discussions about breeding to other pro-breeding forums.
I reserve the right to edit posts with dangerously wrong information and/or delete posts with abusive language in them or spamming. I will always send you a personal message to explain if this is done to your post... which I hope will not be necissary.
Please enjoy the forum! Chat about boars, share your exeriences and ask and answer questions about them.
Please feel free to give and be prepared to recieve honest, frank advice on this forum... with the welfare of piggys being central to everything we do.
We do however ask that along with your honesty you do try to be respectful of others, remembering that if a person asking for advice leaves the board then their piggy may suffer if they do not get the help they needed.
Please make use of the personal message facility to take up a personal issue with a member poilitely before making a thread on the board... and report any problems you are having to a modertor or administrator .
Enjoy your time here! And do come back!
