I`m quite new to the guinea pig thing and we had a few mishaps. We did start with two male litter mates (all the females were either sold or reserved) but due to a couple of accidents etc we have now ended up with two boys of different ages and are now experiencing problems.
I have a two tier hutch outside with a run and a three tier cage inside. Due to the awful wet weather they have spent the last week or so inside. Even though they have at least two of everything, as advised, they still teeth chatter and argue. They jump around each other and all sorts of behaviour. I haven`t observed any blood drawing.
My only option, I think, to try and make their lives less stressful and happier is to go down the neutering route. As my dogs and cats are neutered, this is an option I am quite happy to explore, and my vets do offer this. However, I would be interested to hear from other piggy owners who have done this to know the potential side effects on the guineas.
Or, does anyone have an alternative option? I really don`t want to seperate them now, if I can avoid it, because I don`t want them to be lonely.
Also, if they are neutered, then can the two boys live happily with girls?
Hoping someone can help. I`m just a beginner!!
