neutering my boar and pairing him

Hi, I have two sows living together and a single unneutered boar living separately. I wanted to get him a buddy boar but was told if they could smell my girls they would fight. So I thought I would neuter him and try to put him in with my girls or get him a buddy sow. I am concerned about the surgery. Does anyone know if the boars can smell my girls they will fight? He would be living directly above them. Thanks so much.
