Hello all, my name is Kirsten, I am 16 years old and I am due to start college in September studying chemistry, biology, maths, french and german to pursue a career in sciences of languages, i can't decide yet! I live in North Yorkshire, on the coast, it's pretty nice up here!
I have 6 guinea pigs, 2 sows, 3 boars of my own and a boar recently obtained from a pet shop due to the conditions he was kept in, I actually had to pay for him though, which wasn't the plan and promotes this sort of thing again but it was either that or he continue to be bullied. 2 of my other boars are from a breeder surplus stock and my other one was from a breeder as a companion for another of my boars, also celebratory of my last GCSE! the sows are called Pepsi and Blaze and the boars are called Cracker, Smudge, Roux and Alfie,
love kirsten xxxx

Thanks for that Kirsten. Did you once tell me you were thinking of being a vet? If not no worries maybe it was someone else I'm thinking of. Ahhh 6 guineas. Have you ever had any others that have gone to Rainbow Bridge or anything?

Heya Susie, yes it is me who wanted to be a vet, I then went off the idea and decided I wanted to be a plastic surgeon after 5 years of so badly wanting to be a vet. i am now back on the idea of wanting to be a vet lol! Rachel, are you only in year 10 at school then? I know you said you were doing your GCSEs but your birthday suggests you would be in year 10??Did you do your GCSEs a year early? Is it only rescue piggies which go to Rainbow Bridge? If not then my first piggy Tigger will have gone there, mainly black but with a couple of ginger stripes and patches. Also Eeyore, thought to have died of toxic shock (that's what the vet said) but I'm not sure. Then there was Orly, my beautiful ginger self pig, the exact colour of his mam and coat type of his dad, used to come running to you when you called his name - he was the coolest. Then finally Piglet, the ridgeback sheltie/peruvian cross who was a bit boisterous but we wouldn't have had him any other way! Yes, 6 the magic full up number now, no spare hutches and no more pushing it with the parents, as I had to with Alfie, otherwise his sister would be here too. That's about it really, not much else to say love kirsten xxxx

Did you used to breed then Kirsten? Not judging you... just wondering. With you saying he looked like the Mum & Dad? I think all piggys go to the bridge don't they? They sounded lovely pigs and I know you have some nice ones now.
Rachel... Hi again sweetheart! Had hoped you's be on here again soon. 2/3 new pigs? Yipee! Lucky you and lucky piggys as I know they will have such a lovely home with you. Tell me all about it won't you! ;D

Yes Kirsten, I took 3 GCSE's a year early. Geography, maths and health and social. My health and social results I will be getting in September, I am predicted a double A*!!! No pressure Thank you Susie, yes I will be celebrating the arrival of my new girls in a few weeks. They will be texels, I have always wanted a texel, and after the loss of Honey, I moved missy into a single hutch as she had found the ramp quite difficult, so it has left me with a double hutch suitable for 4 piggies. I have waited until I found the right ones as now have, they are still too young at the moment but will be old enough soon. Just starting off building a new run for them, then I'll be ready for them. This is the sort of thing I'm after Love Rachel xx

Hello all,
Yes Susie I used to breed, although the first time was mis sexing by a pet shop, I kept both boys from that litter, about 4 months later I bred her again (I wanted her to rest), I kept 2 from that litter and gave the third to Becky (recently gave away her rex, different to the one I gave her). About a year and a bit later I bred her again as two lots of friends were looking for guineas as family pets. I know you won't judge, even though I was young and stupid (er) lol I gave her plenty of rest between each litter and sought advice from the vet during the first pregnancy, even though we only twigged a week to the day before she had them! Sadly I didn't know that there was some kind of fault in the genetics, as 5 out of 7 of the babies are now dead, all male aswell. Theres one male left and my Blaze, whose putting on ounces every now and then which is great. The only thing was, there was nothing I could do with the others. They were all male, all lost weight fairly suddenyl then calmed down etc, Vedra thought it might be yersinia caught by mice, but we hadn't had mice for awhile and the wire had been replaced on the hutches, also it doesn't explain the ones that didn't live with us that went to indoor, mouse free homes. It was frustrating and had me constantly worried about my guineas, never knowing how long they would be around, and you know how fond I am of all my boars, but all of my guineas are non related now besides Blaze and Pepsi, and it has put me off breeding ever again, unless I obtained them from a reputable breeder, even then thats a long way off, like when I've graduated time scale lol, I'm more than happy with my boars. And my sows of course!
Rachel, you lucky girl taking some of them early, I hope you do excellent in them, by the sounds of things you've nailed H&S though! Best o fluck with your results hun.
Becky and me took some fab pics of all the guineas apart from Alfie today, he isn't keen on sitting still unless its on someone's knee, although his dry skin and lice are clearing up a treat, he's scratching much less and I am confident that there are no other problems at the moment, he's eating stacks too:)
The pics will have to be emailed to someone as I am useless at stuff like that, if that's okay, any volunteers get first peek at the pics - Susie would you like the honours? I'll give you them as soon as I am sent them!
Talk soon, Love kirsten xxxx

Welcome Karen. I just love Lion head rabbits. They are so beautiful. I would love to see a photo. If you have a digi-cam you can use the tips on posting photos in the 'using this forum' board to help you... need any extra help then just give me a yell. Also love tortoises! Eric sounds like one lucky piggy with all those ladies around... does he live with them?
