Hi, I've just come across your site, which is perfect for me as I have 6 boys (3 pairs). Their names are Milton and Eddie (will be 4 in April 06), Trouble, 2, (well-deserving of his name, but that's another story!), Brownie (6 months), Flash (aka Grey-Baby) and Wilson (just over a year old). I also have 3 rabbits - only one of which lives with any pigs. Her name is Blossom and she has lived with Milton and Eddie since they were all babies. Milton thinks she's his girlfriend. She thinks Milton's her baby!
The site is great. I will definitely be posting pics of my boys in the future.
Oh, by the way, someone has asked to "borrow" one of my boys to make some piglets, but I am a bit worried about separating a pair for any length of time in case they cannot be re-introduced. Any advice??

I know absolutely nothing about breeding guinea pigs but I was under the impression that once a boar had mated, he would not be able to move back with a male partner. There can't be many good reasons for a piggy keeper to want to breed from their pets...?

Sally- welcome. You are right to be worried as Julia rightly says it is less likely that a boar who has been bred would get on with other boars as he could see them as competition. So were he my boar I would say no... but there are exceptions to the rule. I have sucessfuly paired up an ex-breeding boar who I adopted. But it is a risk.
Hi Niki lovely to meet you. I'm not too far from you here in Halifax. Your boys sound lovely as do your other pets. Look forwards to hearing more about them!

Hello. My name is Debbie. I'm 36, married and live in North London. I have 2 lovely piggies called George and Mildred and 2 beautiful twin half burmese cats called Gemma and Willow. I've been a cavy slave for 2 years now. You will hear a lot about George from me as he has a lot of trouble with his bits. Love Debbbie

Well it seems I jumped the gun and wrote a partial intro in the wrong area! I am Judy from Savannah, Ga. I am 50, divorced for 2 years and about to complete an Associate's degree in surgical technology. I have had pets my entire life and when I moved into an apartment where I couldn't have a dog, I got a GP. I now have 7 ladies and am getting a boar on Thursday. His name is Doolittle. I will be his third owner and his last! My sweetie and I moved furniture around yesterday and the pig pen is now in it's new spot and ready for us to build an addition for Doolittle. Tomorrow I have a friend from school taking me to get some coro after our finals.

Hi, My name is Irene, although my friends call me "Rene". I am 40 years old and live in the U.S. (Am I the only one here??). I just lost a sweet wonderful piggy "Buckwheat" last week and had to put another wonderful friend "Danny" down just one month earlier. (He was 7,kidney failure). I now have adopted 3 very shy girls from the local rescue shelter. I look forward to talking with all of you who share my love for these wonderful friends!

Hello. I'm new and my name is Sarah. I'm 25 and live in Cirencester in Gloucestershire. I used to keep pigs when I was little but then when I went away to university etc. I wasn't allowed pets I've just bought my own flat and so I decided to start all over again! I got my first ever boar 2 weeks ago (I used to keep girls). He's 9 weeks old and this weekend I made the decision to get him a little friend. I went with a 6 week old boar and so far so good! They have their moments and argued a bit but yesterday morning I woke up and found them cuddled up in bed together Their names are Leroy and Malcolm and I hope to put a picture of them here when I work out how to do it. Does anyone know of any good small animal vets in Gloucestershire?
