Rene I think there are others from the US and other people from oversea's... I know we have a member from New Zealand for one! You could always invite some friends from the U.S. here. Nice to find out a bit more about you. Chat soon on the boards no doubt!
Hi Sarah and welcome. Congratulations on your return to piggy ownership! And on your new piglet companion for your boar. Looking forwards to pics on Leroy & Malcolm. There is info on how to put pics on on the 'using the forum' board.... any problems just let me know I will be happy to help. Not sure on the cavy saavy Gloucestershire vet... you could try contactig the Cambridge Cavy Trust who might be able to put you in touch with a good vet near you. There are contact details on the links page on the barmy4boars site. Keep us updated on Leroy & Malcolm. They sound sweet. Hope they will be good friends forever!

Hey I'm Hannah and like the name of this wonderful forum, I am... well... Barmy for boars! I have 3 boars, Cocoa, Alfie and Charlie. I love them to pieces and they are my best friends. Cocoa is a real winner at shows, with a trophy and 4 rosettes from only 2 shows! Alfie and Charlie are about to face their first show in June. I can't wait and they can't either because they love to be groomed!

Hi everyone! I'm Sammi. I'm 27, from Arizona, and I have adopted two boars that were no longer wanted. Dammit is my old man. He's a mess of wild brown, orange & white hair with a long tuft that always sticks up on his back. Sometimes we call him our "punk piggie" because of that. It's like a misplaced mohawk. I'll have to get some pics to show off. I'm not sure what breed he is or even how old he really is. The vet thinks he's five now, perhaps. My husband actually found him set out on the ground by a garbage dumpster with his pigloo underneath an Oleander bush! We took him in and it's been over a year so I tink it's official - he's a part of the family! ;D He's still not the most social of pigs and definitely wants things on his own terms when it comes to lap & floor time but, he's getting better and better. Poor thing only hid when he first came to us. I've always liked guinea pigs but never had any of my own before so it's been quite a learning experience! A few months ago I decide I was ready to take on a second pig to keep Dammit company. I really wanted a baby to put with him, hoping to get his paternal instinct to kick in so he'd befriend the new little addition but, when I saw how many unwanted piggies there were in the area I knew I wanted to give one a home, even if it meant side by side cages only. Some companionship is better than none. I intended to adopt an adorable young black & white Aby from the local humane society as a birthday present for myself but, he was adopted out the night before or morning of my birthday. A bit dismayed, I hoped he'd found a fantastic forever home and renewed my search. Yesterday it ended when I brought home a little orange & black smooth coat boar. His family said they couldn't give him the attention he needed with a new baby on the way and were close to considering the shelter, according the "last chance" ad they placed. I was able to get him for free with his cage all set up, food, and bedding. Though I am not sure what I'm going to do with half a bag of shavings. His cage was in a not so pretty state when I got him home and started investigating things. It looked like they had just continued to put clean shavings over the dirty stuff so everything got a good scrub down as soon as we got home and the piggie got cuddle time with "dad". What a welcome home, huh? I have the cage bedded with paper and double layer of towels over top now, just like Dammit's, and he seems a lot happier. I'm going to look into switching to vet bed soon, I think. Hopefully he'll be able to help me figure out what his name will be in the meantime.
